Active Folate contains Quatrefolic - the most biologically active form of 5-MTHF folic acid. Quatrefolic is the fourth generation of folate delivery. Metabolism errors and physiological stress can make it difficult or impossible to transform folic acid into its active form. Unlike inactive folate, active 5-MTHF can cross the blood-brain barrier.
Supplemental folate intake increases maternal folate levels. Low maternal folate levels are a risk factor for the development of neural tube defects in the developing fetus.
The product is also intended for women of childbearing age and the beneficial effect is achieved with a daily supplemental intake of 400?g of folic acid, thus at least one month before conception and a maximum of three months after conception.
